International Conference on Modern Maritime Law Issues at TSU

 

Professor Norman Martínez Gutiérrez, Director of the IMO International Maritime Law Institute, visited Tbilisi State University to participate in a joint international conference.

The conference, which was dedicated to the memory of Academician Levan Aleksidze, the founder of the Georgian School of International Law, was organized by Tbilisi State University, with the participation of the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO, IMLI) and the Batumi State Maritime Academy. The Deputy Rector of TSU, Professor Nino Gvenetadze welcomed the participants of the conference.

During the international conference, scientists and experts discussed the issues of the relationship between the norms of modern international maritime law and national norms.

As part of the event, Professor Norman Martínez Gutiérrez, Director of the IMO International Maritime Law Institute, participated in the event as a keynote speaker.

Tamar Zarandia, the Dean of the Faculty of Law of TSU, Khatuna Totladze, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, and Murtaz Devadze, the Rector of the Batumi State Maritime Academy, delivered welcome speeches.

The conference was held in the format of two plenary sessions chaired by Professor Irine Kurdadze and Professor Konstantine Korkelia.
